Heart Spot!!

What is Ryugu Sea Cave?

When waves crash against the coast, they can erode weak parts of the cliffs (soft layers of rock, faults, etc.), forming caves. Sea caves that form in this way are called sea caves.

Ryugu Sea Cave in Toji was created when part of the ceiling of a large sea cave collapsed, creating a skylight about 40 to 50 meters in diameter. The skylight at Ryugu Sea Cave is one of the largest in Izu, and you can enter the cave from the road entrance and stand underneath it. The walls of the cave are covered with beautiful layers of yellowish-brown volcanic rubble that erupted from an undersea volcano, and the contrast with the blue seawater that fills the bottom of the skylight makes for a mystical place.

There is also a walking trail overlooking Ryugu Sea Cave, allowing you to view this mysterious sea cave from a variety of locations. The Izu Islands can also be seen in the distance through the trees, which is a beautiful sight.

A popular heart spot!

Looking down into the cave, you will see a heart-shaped formation! It has become a popular heart spot and attracts many visitors. Couples who want to deepen their bond and express gratitude for their love, as well as those who want to deepen the bond between friends and family, please come and create fun memories.

How was it born?

The southern part of the Izu Peninsula is widely covered with the products of ancient undersea volcanoes. The beautiful strata that emerged after the undersea volcanic period create the scenery of southern Izu.
The force of the waves eroded a weak part of this stratum, creating a cave, and then part of the ceiling collapsed, creating a skylight.
