What is Shikinejima?
It is one of the Izu Islands that can be accessed by high-speed jet ferry from Takeshiba Passenger Ship Terminal in Tokyo.
Although it's not too far from the city center, the atmosphere you feel the moment you arrive is like being in another world.
A beautiful ria coastline, with crystal-clear waters stretching as far as the eye can see.
Enjoy a 24-hour free open-air hot spring bath, and a breathtakingly beautiful starry sky.
Shikinejima is a special island that makes you think, "I can't believe such a place exists within Tokyo."
What is the ferry route from Tokyo's Takeshiba Pier to Shikinejima Island?
I took a Tokai Kisen high-speed jet ferry from Tokyo's Takeshiba Passenger Terminal to Shikinejima Island.
This is an extraordinary boat trip that can be accessed in as little as 2 hours and 20 minutes.
It's not just about traveling to a destination; the time spent gliding across the sea itself becomes the journey.
As we approached the island, the color of the sea and the silhouette of the island came into view, and the sense of anticipation grew even before we arrived.
There are sights you can only see by traveling by boat.
What are the charms of Shikinejima Island...?
The first thing that captivates you is the beauty of the sea.
The calm cove, white sandy beach, and crystal-clear waters are so beautiful that simply gazing at them can soothe your soul.
Furthermore, Shikinejima Island has three open-air hot springs that are free to use 24 hours a day.
Soaking in a hot spring amidst nature, feeling the sea breeze, is a luxury unique to this island.
During the day, you'll see the blue sea and sky; in the evening, enjoy the relaxed pace of island life; and at night, the sky will be filled with stars.
Shikinejima Island reveals completely different faces depending on the time of day you visit.
Just a little fun fact...
Shikinejima is an island with a circumference of about 12km that can be explored on foot, and from the observation deck you can see the islands of the Izu archipelago.
The view from the Kamihiki Observatory is particularly breathtaking, offering a magnificent 360-degree panoramic vista on a clear day.
Furthermore, Shikinejima Island's sea, hot springs, and starry skies make it an island where simply doing nothing feels like a luxury.
It's a place where you can take a break from your busy daily life and take a deep breath.
You'll understand when you come.
I want to come back again.
Shikinejima is not just an island for sightseeing; it's an island to go to find peace of mind.
A paradise of the sea, hot springs, and starry skies, accessible from Tokyo.
For your next travel destination, consider Shikinejima Island. The sight of layers upon layers of icicles is truly breathtaking.
The ice palace that covers the 120-meter-high rock wall is a spectacular miracle created by nature.

The "true face" of Shikinejima Island, captured from an altitude of 499m.

Therefore, capturing the entire topography and scale of the island in a single shot is simply impossible with conventional filming methods.
This filming project was finally realized after meticulous coordination with all relevant parties, including individual flight permit applications.
moreover,
- Confirm the safety of the airspace.

Having cleared several important conditions, we were able to carry out the filming with a perfect system in place.
The resulting video captures the topographical beauty and scale of Shikinejima Island from a completely new perspective, making it an extremely rare and valuable piece of content.

The existence of Shikinejima Island, and the stories behind it.
Shikinejima Island has some interesting features that are not very well known.
That is, this island was formed by a single volcanic eruption.
Knowing this fact changes how you perceive the scenery before you.
This landscape wasn't shaped over long periods of time through erosion, but rather created in a single burst of energy..
It truly is a perfect example of nature's single, complete creation.
A miraculous island born from a single volcanic eruption.
- The ocean and terrain are all generated in one go.
- An island that wasn't created by being carved out, but was complete from the moment it was born.
・A miraculous outline drawn only once by a volcano.
This beauty was achieved with just one eruption.
Therefore, it's a drama no matter what angle you look at it from.
Knowing this background, you'll realize that the scenery of Shikinejima Island is not just a beautiful sight, but something that reflects the very dynamism of the Earth itself.
■Summary
Shikinejima is not just an island with beautiful seas.
This island offers an experience in itself that is valuable, as the sea, topography, hot springs, starry sky, and even the history of its formation all come together as one.
And the starting point of that journey is a cruise by Tokai Kisen.
Just a few hours from Takeshiba, Tokyo.
However, the air you feel the moment you arrive is like being in a completely different world.
The sense of distance that can only be reached by boat, and the feeling that the time spent sailing on the sea itself becomes a journey.
That, too, completes the experience of Shikinejima.
However, this beautiful island has an important premise that must be protected.
• Islands have their own rules. (Please check them before coming to the island.)
• Always obtain permission before flying a drone.
Please visit with respect for nature, culture, and the local area.
Because it is an isolated island, there is a nature and way of life that is preserved, and this breathtaking scenery exists because of that balance.
An island where doing nothing becomes a luxury.
Just being there gives you a sense of balance.
The reasons why you'll want to come back again are probably impossible to fully explain in words.
That's why
For your next travel destination, consider Shikinejima Island.
