[How to] Flight Restricted Areas/GEO Areas

  • Post category:notice

GIS (Geographic Information System) can dynamically overlay flight restriction zones around the world, allowing users to get real-time flight restriction information for airports, temporary flight restriction areas due to sudden situations (e.g. forest fires, large events), and permanent flight restriction areas (e.g. prisons, nuclear plants).

Additionally, if you are using the aircraft in areas where some flying is permitted (e.g. wildlife reserves, densely populated towns, etc.), you may see a flight warning message.

The above areas where you cannot fly completely freely are collectively called "flight restricted areas." "Flight restricted areas" include "warning areas," "enhanced warning airspace," "approved airspace," "altitude restricted airspace," and "restricted airspace."

By default, GIS restricts aircraft from taking off/using in areas where safety issues may exist. If you need to fly in these areas, you can apply for lifting the flight restrictions by providing relevant documents through your verified DJI account.
*The restriction lifting application does not apply to sensitive areas such as around military facilities.

Flight Restrictions

Restricted Airspace: This area is displayed in red on the map screen. Flying drones in this area is prohibited. To get permission to fly in this area,Online UnlockingPlease apply for removal via flysafe@dji.com or contact us at flysafe@dji.com.

Altitude restricted airspace: This area will be displayed in grey on the map screen. The flight altitude of aircraft flying in this area will be restricted.

(Example: near the airport)

Approved Airspace: Shown in blue on the map screen. When the aircraft flies in this zone, the system will receive warning messages and regulatory information regarding flight restrictions. Users with permission to fly in this zone can use their DJI verified account to lift the flight restrictions in this zone.

Warning Area: This area may not be displayed completely on the map in the DJI app, but you will receive related warning messages if you fly in this area (e.g. nature reserves).

Strengthened warning area: When flying in this zone, you will receive messages from the GIS related to lifting flight restrictions (the operation method is the same as the operation method for lifting restrictions in "approved airspace"). A DJI certified account and network connection are not required to lift flight restrictions in this zone.

Regulated Airspace: Due to local laws and regulations, flying drones in this area is prohibited. (e.g. prisons)

Permitted Flight Area: This is shown in green on the map screen. This is an area where flying is permitted according to local laws and regulations.

So, how will you conquer Yonaguni?
When I went to Yonaguni in October this year, I was planning to fly in the GEO area to take all the photos, and I will be online once a month in 2024.
I would like to provide some explanations as well.
It's all free. ※We will not give out information in small amounts or encourage you to join online salons, etc.
In fact, I'm not even thinking about creating an online salon.
I just want to fly a drone! I love drone aerial photography! I want to liven up my local area! I want to be proud of my hometown!
We would like to invite drone pilots who would like to hear a little about operation, knowledge, and the voices of experienced pilots to participate.
The online schedule will be announced on Instagram (Stories) and on our website NEWS.
I hope you all enjoy flying.
All drone pilots are connected in the sky.
