A large rock is called "Oushitsuki" and a small rock is called "Koushitsuki".
Ushitsukiiwa Rock
Two islands, one large and one small, can be seen offshore.
Long ago, a storm caused a major flood in the Kumomi area, sweeping homes and livestock out to sea, but the next morning, cows were found washed up on the rocks in front of the harbor, safe and sound.
Since then, the residents of Kumomi have called the island Ushitsukiiwa.
Even today, people tie sacred ropes around the large rock "Oushitsuki" and the smaller rock "Koushitsuki" to pray for the safety of the harbor and ships.
