The most beautiful valley in Japan
From the Shosenkyo Ropeway's Panorama-dai Station at the top of the mountain in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, you can reach Shosenkyo Panorama-dai in about 10 minutes by climbing the ridge path called Sansei-gaeshi. The path is made of stepped footholds cut into the granite, giving it a slightly unique atmosphere. If you continue walking along the mountain path along the ridge with a "Caution: Rough Road" sign, you will reach the summit of Mt. Yasaburo (1,058.3m).
It takes 5 minutes on foot from Sancho Panoramadai Station to Panoramadai, and another 15 minutes to reach Yasaburo-dake.
The route from Panoramadai to Yasaburo-dake includes a chain section at the end, so if you are not well prepared it is safer to return from Panoramadai.
Both Panorama Platform and the summit of Yasaburo-dake are located on the tops of rocky peaks that can be seen from the valley, making for an exhilarating feeling.
This entire mountain range is called Rakanjiyama, and Kakuenbo is located directly below (due east) of the summit of Yasaburo-dake.
By the way, Wago Gongen near Panoramadai Station on the summit was built in 1964 as a sacred oak tree transplanted from the foot of Mt. Kinpu when the Shosenkyo Ropeway opened, and the hexagonal hall shrine was built in 2011.
